Mission

The National Organization of Sisters of Color Ending Sexual Assault (SCESA) is a Women of Color-led nonprofit dedicated to working with our communities to create a just society in which Women of Color are able to live healthy lives free of violence.

Intership

The National Organization of Sisters of Color Ending Sexual Assault encourages undergraduate and graduate students who live in Hartford County, CT, Metropolitan Boston, or New York Capital region [Albany and surrounding counties] to apply for our internship and volunteer program. All majors welcome.

Purpose: To cultivate and support the leadership of young Women of Color by providing opportunities to participate in the anti-sexual assault movement as it relates to racial and ethnic communities.

Eligibility: A candidate must be a graduate or undergraduate student and have a:

Location: The main office is in Connecticut. However we have satellite offices in Troy, New York and Boston, Massachusetts. Although interns will work closely with SCESA staff, interns are not expected to work onsite at the SCESA offices during their internship.

General Information: Interns are expected to work between 15 and 20 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Internship term start and end dates are flexible and may work around intern's schedule. Internships are offered during the Summer, Fall, and Winter/Spring semesters. All internships are generally unpaid. Interns may receive academic credit if an agreement is made between SCESA and the intern's college or university.

Application Procedures: Candidates must complete an application form and submit it with their cover letter and resume. Some internship positions require additional application items, such as writing sample. All application items must be submitted as a complete package. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. Personal and/or telephone interviews will be scheduled for finalists.

Application Deadlines: For the Summer program, applications are due by May 15; for the Fall program, applications are due by August 15; and for the Winter/Spring program, applications are due by December 15.
